Cat Ba is the
largest island in Halong Bay. The island has a few fishing villages and a small
town. On the east side of the island you will find LanHa bay which has numerous
beaches and excellent scenery. There are two white sand beaches (Cat Co 1 and
Cat Co 2) located 1km from Cat Ba town. The two beaches are connected by a
wooden walkway about 700 meters long. Cat Ba National Park occupies a large area
of the island and is well worth a visit especially if you enjoy hiking.
Getting There The best way to organize a trip to Cat Ba Island is to book
a tour with one of the agents, hotels or cafes in Hanoi. Costs vary but all are
reasonably priced and usually include accommodation as well as transportation to
and from Hanoi. There is a chartered helicopter service from Hanoi to Halong Bay
if you feel like spending a bit of extra cash. From Halong you can take a boat
to
Cat Ba. When To Kayak The best time to visit
Cat Ba
is during October and November. Temperatures are a little cool from
December to February, and you can expect rain during March and April. June
through to August is hot and humid.

Overview
Halong Bay Vietnam
Halong Bay Vietnam is one of the world’s natural wonders which is the most
beautiful tourist destination of Vietnam. HaLong Bay features more than one
thousand awesome limestone karsts and islands of various sizes and shapes along
the 120-km coastline of Bai Chay Beach.
Its waters are host to a great of ecosystems including offshore coral
reefs, freshwater swamp forests, mangrove forests, small freshwater lakes, and
sandy beaches. The folk tale has it that the dragons descended from heaven to
help locals by spitting jewels and jade to the sea, forming a natural fortress
against invaders; these precious stones are represented by the lush green
outcrops. Several islands boast beautiful grottos and caves with contiguous
chambers, hidden ponds and peculiar stone formations. The bay is about 170
kilometers northeast of Hanoi and 3,5 hours by road.
Halong City, formerly the Hon Gai Town, is the cultural, economic and
political centre of Quang Ninh Province. It borders Cam Pha to the east, the Yen
Hung District to the west, the Hoanh Bo District to the north and Halong Bay to
the south with the coastline of 20km.
The city is divided into two parts: East Halong and West Halong. The eastern
part is an industrial zone where most of the province's official buildings are
also concentrated. The western part, also called Bai Chay, is the animated
tourism zone.
Halong's population are most having emigrated from other places to settle here.
Halong Bay is famous internationally, and is recognized as a World Heritage by
UNESCO for its thousands of natural islands. Also in the city, there are
temples, pagodas and historical relics. In addition to the most active branch of tourism.
Bai Chay, Halong Bay : Bai Chay Beach lies along the shore of Ha Long Bay in
Quang Ninh Province, is a windward ocean resort that runs along the sea for more
than 2km. Bai Chay is dotted with old pine trees, multi-storey restaurants and
well-equipped hotels. Visiting Bai Chay Beach, visitors can swim in clean and
clear ocean water, and enjoy the beauty of nearby Ha Long Bay, which was
recognized by UNESCO first in 1994 as a World Natural Heritage Site, and again
in 2000 for its unique geomorphic value, and now is going to select as one of
the nature wonders of the world.
Bai Chay is a large, beautiful, artificial beach, closed to the coast of Hạ Long
Bay. The 100-meter-wide-sandy beach spans over 500 m. Early in the morning or in
late afternoon, thousands of people liven up the atmosphere here.
The asphalt road winds its way through the white sandy beach and luxuriant
casuarinas. The Hoang Gia Tourism Company has invested in diverse services for
tourists. The Bai Chay tourist site is fast changing into one of the most
captivating of this kind in Hạ Long City. It comprises restaurants, water puppet
and traditional music theatres, Hoang Gia Park, water-skiing, and sea
motorcycling. The Hoang Gia Park lines along the Ha Long road leading from the Bai Chay Tourist Wharf to the gate of the Hạ Long Night Market.
There are many legends associated with the name Bai Chay. According to one
legend, when the fleet carrying food for the Yuan-Mongolian invaders led by
Truong Van Ho came there, the Vietnamese troops and locals under the leadership
of Tran Khanh Du set fire to it. The whole fleet was engulfed in fire.
Meanwhile, the northeast wind blew hard and further added fuel to it. Fire was
so fierce it burned down the forest in the western side of Cua Luc. Hence the
name Bai Chay. Another legend has it that the western side of Cua Luc used to be
a wharf for seagoing boats. Acorn-barnacles firmly attached to these boats’
sides and underneath, and might wreck the boats. The local population had to use
casuarinas leaves to burn acorn-barnacles. From Hon Gai and other neighboring
places, people always see a blaze from there, so they called it Bai Chay
Bai Chay Tourist Whart, 2km from national way 18A.
it is a schist island,
very pretty, with a luxuriant forest, it has an area of 220ha, and to the east
and south are two beaches endowed with very white and fine sand. One can go to
Tuan Chau Island via the 2 km cement road from the mainland. Investments have
been poured into the island to turn it into a modern tourist resort.
Includes
such fascinating extras as the dolphin, sea lion, and seal-performing club,
animal circus club, golf court, cultural-sports center, beach, rural market,
ornamental fish lake, villas in Hill 1 and Hill 2 with 300 rooms, guesthouses,
and five 50 room villas along the beach. The ensemble of five restaurants and one
round house built in the pagoda motif can serve up to 1,000 guests at the same
time.
